Nature Journal walk – Long Swamp Trail Lidsdale

Won’t you join us for a nature journal walk with Lithgow Environment Group (LEG) sharing our knowledge of the local native Flora?

Joining us, Andrew Lothian, our local expert Fauna Ecologist Biodiversity Monitoring Services sharing extensive knowledge on the local native Fauna, including an update on the vulnerable listed Eastern Pygmy Possum.

The location, Gardens of Stone SCA aka Long Swamp/Coxs River, Long Swamp Trail, Lidsdale. These complex swamp systems, Threatened Ecological Community created the last ice age approximately 12 to 15 thousand years ago. Sightings of vulnerable or endangered species in this area. The Giant Dragonfly, Southern Greater Glider, Scarlet Robin, Glossy Black Cockatoo, Gang Gang Cockatoo, Xerochrysum palustre, Eucalyptus aggregata

NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service will be joining this walk to ensure the safety of all volunteers, as this is a requirement by NPWS you will need to register for this event. If you do not register you will not be able to join us: https://app.betterimpact.com/Application…

When: Saturday 17th June 2023; 9-30am-1-30pm

Further information:

There are no toilets. Closest public toilets at Wallerawang village. Wear appropriate weather gear, sturdy boots, hats/sunscreen. Food and water. Camera, phone, journal folder. Pending weather, if inclement weather you will be notified by email.

Ask us about future volunteer monitoring to check on the Eastern Pygmy Possum.
