Painted River Project at Lake Pillans
October 14, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Come and paint alongside renowned artists and explore aquatic life on the banks of Lake Pillans in Lithgow.
There will be opportunities to learn about the waterways and view close up the creatures that impact our water ecology and also to set up in a spot in this unique and precious environment to create an artwork. Bring your own art-making materials and a picnic to make a day of it, or use some of the paper and paints provided on the day. Selected works will be included in an exhibition celebrating the waterways in early 2024.
The second in a series of events, The Painted River Project endeavours to engage the community through art on the health and future vision for the waterways given they are central to the future planning of our region. Water and our river systems are the foundation of healthy cities and human well-being.
Enjoy a morning of creativity in the company of established artists and scientists. Participants will have the opportunity to submit their artworks for consideration for the exhibition however this is not a pre-requisite for attendance.
PLEASE NOTE: In the event of stormy wet weather, the event will be postponed. Please follow our Lithgow Transformation Hub Facebook page and Instagram profile for event updates.
The event is being funded by the Black Summer Bushfire Grants Program which is an initiative of the Commonwealth Government National Recovery and Resilience Agency.
